About us
Empowering learners to flourish
Born from 50 years of remarkable community work by the Goldhill Play Association, our school provides a deeply nurturing environment specifically tailored for children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
We believe that the right relationships are the foundation for positive change. By creating a climate where learners are seen, understood, and valued, we empower them to take responsibility, broaden their horizons, and uncover their true potential. We don’t just want our students to learn; we want them to feel safe, respected, and leave us with lasting, positive memories.
Our vision
To sit at the heart of the community, promoting educational success through a flexible, project-based approach. We strive to create a highly caring climate where children can overcome their individual barriers, build strong relationships, and feel a true sense of belonging.

Specialist provision & curriculum
Tailored education for SEMH & additional needs
At The Goldhill, we embrace a pupil-centred approach. Recognising that many of our learners have specific SEMH needs, alongside additional diagnoses such as Autism and ADHD. We deliver a broad, balanced, and highly adaptable curriculum to remove barriers to engagement. Our specialist approach is built around three core pillars of support:
Adapting to communication needs
We utilise visual communication tools (like Makaton, BSL, and PECS) alongside sensory-rich delivery to ensure learning is always accessible and every pupil has a voice.
Targeted sensory support
We implement proven frameworks, such as TEACCH methods, to provide a structured, supportive atmosphere for those who experience the world differently.
Building life skills & confidence
We challenge learners to modify their attitudes toward school by providing real-world experiences. We use local community facilities to develop functional skills, broaden horizons, and build independence.
Families, safeguarding & policies
A caring community & partnership
We are deeply passionate about working alongside young people and their families. Building trust is at the core of what we do, ensuring every child is kept safe, feels supported, and achieves the best possible outcomes. We utilise two primary systems to keep you closely involved in your child's journey:
ClassDojo: For clear, two-way communication and celebrating daily successes.
Learntrek: For detailed tracking and progress logs.
Safeguarding
Safeguarding is our absolute priority. If you have any concerns regarding a child’s welfare, please contact our team immediately:
